About 80 papers from 20 countries have been selected by an international program committee to be presented at the conference. Topics include: LIS EDUCATION *Challenges in LIS education in the Asia-Pacific context *Preparing LIS graduates for leadership and management roles to support national and economic development in Asia *Quality assurance and accreditation of LIS programs in Asia *Collaboration and resource sharing among LIS schools *E-learning in LIS education *Impact of LIS education on the work and career of graduates *The job market for LIS professionals, and competencies needed *Continuing professional development of LIS professionals LIS PRACTICE *LIS professionals as teachers and trainers. User education and information literacy for life-long learning *Role of LIS professionals in non-traditional contexts. Changing roles in traditional contexts *Knowledge management and librarians *Strategic marketing of information services *Roles and challenges for school media specialists in Asia-Pacific *User information needs and behaviour, and application in the design of information services & systems *Valuation of library/information services. Measurement of the impact and value of information services and products to an organization *Models and theories of user information needs and behaviour, and application in the design of information services & systems *Design, development and evaluation of digital libraries & information repositories *Issues in digital reference services. Join us for an exciting conference! Distinguished academics and librarians from across Asia, Australia and New Zealand, as well as from the U.S. and Europe will be presenting at the conference. However, a small number of papers will be presented in Chinese (Mandarin) and Malay/Indonesian. CONFERENCE ORGANISATION The conference is organized by the Division of Information Studies, School of Communication & Information, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, -- in collaboration with the Department of Information Science, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Malaya, and the Nanyang Technological University Library. CONFERENCE VENUE AND REGISTRATION The conference will be held at the Nanyang Executive Centre, on the garden campus of the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
